Our goal is to design and build distinctive, well-crafted, aesthetically appealing websites (and related materials) which are easy for users to navigate and explore and which also give them easy access to the information they are looking for.
DVM opened in September 2002 and is owned and operated by Steve Wilkison. Wilkison, a veteran of the music industry, has been working in the graphic design field for over fifteen years. He has been involved with over forty album releases as art director and/or graphic designer, including packages for such artists as Emmylou Harris, Lucinda Williams, Wayne Hancock and Kate Campbell. He first began developing websites in 1994, long before they became the integral part of business they have evolved into. One of his earliest sites was chosen as one of the Best Texas Websites by the influential Texas Monthly magazine. Today Wilkison specializes in the design and development of unique materials that reflect the passion and individuality of his clients. He has designed and created numerous websites, eCards, digital portfolios, CD enhancements and blogs utilizing many of today's cutting edge technologies. His detail oriented approach to high quality and passion for his work has helped him obtain a reputation for producing outstanding results.
Wilkison was also a prominent and respected figure in the indie record label community for many years. As the former President of Eminent Records in Nashville, Vice-President/General Manager of Koch Records in New York, President of Dejadisc in Austin and Founding Member of the Americana Music Association, Wilkison brings a wealth of music business knowledge and experience to DVM.
Wilkison currently teaches three web design and development classes at Watkins College Of Art, Design & Film in Nashville, Tennessee. Web Development I focuses on the basics of website design, coding and authoring, covering (X)HTML and CSS. Web Development II focuses on more advanced techniques including Flash and PHP. Web Development III is a "project" oriented class which uses a variety of websites to provide the students with real-world, hands on web design and development. He is also a contributing author at the popular Community MX web site which features thousands of tutorials and articles related to the Adobe suite of web tools (Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop, etc.). His recent tutorial, "Using Sound With ActionScript 3," provides a clear and concise lesson on incorporating sound into Flash applications using ActionScript, the Flash coding language.
When not planted firmly in front of his Macintosh figuring out some new web oriented technique Wilkison can often be found cycling throughout middle Tennessee (or France). An avid music lover and collector (over 10,000 CDs, 5,000 vinyl albums, 1,000 vinyl singles and more), he also publishes a blog on CDs, LPs and music in general titled Shelter From The Storm.
