Jeni & Billy are Jeni Hankins and Billy Kemp. The play what they refer to as "New Old Music." With exquisitely spare accompaniment and performances that are never rushed, Jeni & Billy’s harmonies harken to a lost time and reverberate with a rare honesty, as they inhabit the lives of miners, preachers, ramblers, lovers, and plain-living folks. Their music is quiet enough to be heard and just loud enough to be unforgettable.
Their new CD, Longing For Heaven, is due to be released in March 2010. The duo decided they wanted to give their fans something special with this CD so they hired us to build an enhancement that contains all the lyrics and three videos. Jeni created all the terrific hand drawn interfaces herself and we built and programmed everything to play on both Macs and PCs.
Users can play the CD and listen to the album as they would any other CD in any CD player (car, home, computer, etc.). If they place the CD in their computer they have access to the "enhancement." This enhancement (like most of the ones we create) was built in Flash. It's totally self-contained so the end user doesn't need to have any special software on their computer. It plays exactly the same on a Mac as it does on a PC (except the PC has an "autostart" feature).
Users can watch three different videos ("Longing For Heaven," "Singler Girl" and "Henry Lee). They also have access to the lyrics for each song on the album. Each lyrics page also features a small music player where the viewer can listen to the song while they are reading the lyrics. This package is a perfect way for Jeni & Billy to give their fans a little "something extra."
